I happened to have a shoot free evening and the weather was beautiful so we decided on a little impromptu road trip out to Ennis, TX to check out the bluebonnet trails. We were also celebrating our 20th week of pregnancy which means we’ve made it to the 1/2 way mark and decided to snap a few 20 week shots in the bluebonnets! The trip out to Ennis was full of twist, turns, stay dogs, old houses full of character, and tons of pretty TX country sights!

We’re getting pretty good at mastering the ol’ tripod shots! It’s not easy and it’s hard to be creative but eh it works for a quick snap!

If you live in the DFW area I recommend the Ennis Bluebonnet Trails! It kind of a crazy drive but it’s worth it! Take the kiddos and pack a picnic lunch.

I’ve been keeping a pretty big secret and it’s high time I spill the beans!

She had the best reaction…..completely priceless!!!! I think she might need to get on the next Babies R US commercial!

Yep that’s right my hubby and I have a little one on the way!
Oh goodness this poor little nugget is going to think my camera is my 3rd arm and YES indeed I’m already planning the newborn session!

Beyond excited to share this news with you!

Madison’s mom is always up for whatever during our shoots. Love when clients trust in my talent. It’s a huge compliment!

 If you sing and clap your hands she’ll smile and sway. I’d say that’s a good tradeoff.

 I started my spring cleaning this week. This is the exact face I made when I cleaned the top of the fridge. All sorts of random treasures hiding up there. Including a bamboo back scratcher. I know, score right?

 I can think of so many captions to go with this shot! Do you do that too or is it just a weird photographer thing?

To Madison: I think you’re something special and I love how you light up when your mom claps for you. If you grow up to be anything like your mom and dad you will have a great sense of humor thanks to your silly dad and a heart of gold just like your mom!  Oh and I wasn’t kidding about coming over to play with your toys.

I’m super excited about this years theme “Vintage Valentine!”

How precious is that?

I wanted to do something that didn’t SCREAM cheesy Valentines pictures. Don’t get me wrong I love cheese……I’m all about cheese BUT this year I want to capture photos you and your loved ones can showcase all year around not just at Valentines! We’ll be using Valentines themed props they’ll just be a little understated and have more of a whimsical vintage feel to them.

Once your spot is secure I’ll email you a link to a style inspiration board as well as a document with tips and store recommendations to help you pull together a cute “Vintage Valentine” themed outfit for your little one.

To reserve your spot your session fee must be paid in full. Please see the bottom of this post for available times.

Meet Rylee she’s beautiful and has the most creamy skin! Every newborn photographer’s dream!

Her mom wanted to avoid using pink during her shoot which meant I got to do a little shopping! Most of my clients want pink…..pink….and more pink for their little girls so I was excited to change things up a little!

Meet my favorite hat! She came to me allllll the way from Bulgaria.

Neat right?

This session was almost a year ago and I’m still LOVE this hat! Such a pretty color!

Yep Rylee was a sleeping beauty for sure! You can almost hear her snoring away.

Love when we get to include fur babies in a session. Let’s face it for many of us they’re our 1st babies! We love them just like they’re a part of the family!

Rylee didn’t even mind the kisses. She just kept on snooooozing away…..just like a real Sleeping Beauty!

I’m kidding but I wish I wasn’t! I would take this abounded shack in a heartbeat!

It’s tucked away in the Arkansas Ozark Mountains all by it lonesome and I love it! The older I get the more granola I’ve become.

Yep I have dreams of living a simple life………
No TV
Land that needs to be worked
Tons of animals to care for
Hour long drives to get to the grocery store
Our future babies collecting eggs from our hens
Long walks with our pups, off leash of course
A bee colony. Yes I want to be a bee farmer like my grandpa!
A Garden for the hubs (he has a green thumb or shall we say a willingness to try)
Annnnd homemade everything!

Sounds like a lot of work right? Well to me it sounds like haven!

The hubs and I recently returned from our annual fall tip to Arkansas.

Oh yes there will be tons of photos in a later post.

 BUT……

Just loooooook at his widdle face! How could you not love him.
Said in my most annoying puppy voice. Yes I have one of those. Don’t you? Well you should dogs love it!
How do you think I got him to look at the camera?

  Up to this point we ‘ve only had toy breeds. Not only is Brady larger than what we’re used to he’s a Border Collie. Border Collies are FULL of energy and need lots of training and attention to shape their genius minds.
We did our research before bringing this little guy home but I have to say we still weren’t quite prepared for the tornado.

A lot of shoes went to shoe heaven.
Furniture has been rearranged.
Even a lifestyle change as we now spend our free time trying to wear him out.

But again look at that widdle face how could you not love him?

 Right?

 The awakening happened when we went to his 1st checkup.
Our vet literally sat us down and gave us a 20 minuet firm talking to about Border Collies and how important it was that we put time into raising him right. He then told us what we would have on our hands if we didn’t make training an important part of our relationship with Brady.

We left terrified wondering what in the world we had gotten ourselves into.

But then yet again looooooook at his widdle face! How could we NOT love him!

We were committed to making him a joyful addition to our family thus it was time to hunker down and get our train on! 

 We made nice with the ladies at our local library and rented every book and DVD on border collies and dog training we could get our hands on. I told you I’ve been busy.

Ps….If you don’t take advantage of your local library you totally should. The library ROCKS! Yes even people that don’t have kiddos can go to the library. ;o)

Brady is pretty stubborn but that seems to go hand in hand with smart dogs. They like to be challenged and test boundaries. The flip side is once they learn right from wrong and form a bond with their owner they want nothing more than to please you.  

Yeah we’ve read books about the breed, watched training DVDs, picked Border Collie owners minds soooooo yeah we’re pretty much experts on the topic……NOT!

 What I can tell you abou this little tornado……

He’s adorable
He’s smart crazy smart
He sooo soft
He has eyes that will melt your heart

BUT

He’s a handful

A BIG handful

FUN is the 1^st word that comes to mind when I think back to this session! Yes I said think back. It’s been close to a year since I shot these images.

This couple was sweet, silly, and stylish. My 3 favorite “S” words. Noooooo those really aren’t my 3 favorite “S” words but it sounds cute and they really were sweet, silly, and stylish so let’s run with it.

When you write your own blog post you get to make stuff up.

Guess what I did today? I flew all the way to Paris just to sit at my favorite café. I sipped on a yummy caramel latte, watched the people pass, and enjoyed a calorie filled pastry without an ounce of guilt.

Oh man wouldn’t that be awesome if that was true!

Okay back on task!

ANYwho I LOVED working with these two! I had so much fun with them during their shoot I ended up going over our session time quite a bit. That happens to me a lot!

Loved Allie’s outfit! This is where stylish comes into play.

This is one of my favorite shots from our session.
I think it looks like a screen shot from a romance movie. The way Allie’s hair is blowing. How David is looking at her. How they’re holding each other. The background. I love it and yes I am biased. At least I admit it.

See I told you they’re silly! Silly clients are my favorite and that’s a fact!

I bet you weren’t expecting this one!  Ha I’ve got to make sure you’re paying attention!

Meet Taffy and Lucy. Aren’t they stinking adorable? Allie and David brought them along to jump in a few pictures. I was so excited when Allie told me they were Boston’s. Photographing Boston Terriers is on my photography bucket list. Yes I know that’s a weird thing to have on my bucket list but if you haven’t figured this out yet I’m a little odd. You just have to embrace it!

Allie and David had a little surprise for their friends and family. They let me help them spread the news……because they’re cool like that. See why I like them so much?

And so you know just how far behind I am on sharing my sessions. I’ve already snapped and completed their newborn photos! Oh just wait until you see. Their little man is a cutie! We did some really fun setups during his session.

 Thank you for being so sweet and fun! Y’all rock! It’s been such a joy working with you over this last year. David thank you for teaching me how to work my sound app! Yet another reason why I love you guys!

Little Alexis is a doll……no really……she looks like a real live doll.

Am I right?

I’m so glad that she’s not my own. There is no way I could say no to this face. All she would need to do is bat those beautiful lashes in my direction and I will buy her every toy in the store. I’ve heard stories of this very same thing happening to her father. I don’t blame him! Those eyes have some major magic powers!

Oh boy do I love this location!
I have yet to find a spot that tops this one. You know what else I love about it? Other local photographers haven’t caught on to my little gem yet. Don’t email me and ask where were shot. I won’t tell you.  Unless you buy me a Starbucks ice coffee topped off with sugar free caramel, skim milk, and a little bit of half and half.  Oh I don’t play when it comes to coffee!  Brian and Jen if you’re reading you make sure not to tell unless a toy for my friend Alexis is in the deal!

This one melts my heart! Little Miss thang wasn’t too sure about me but the second her dad picked her up look what we got. I think it’s because he buys her lots of toys…..I kid, I kid!

These are what I call Snuffaluffagus eyelashes! I want them!

Every little girls dream shoes…..okay and maybe mine too!
